A Life Well Lived

In the last service of January, Pastor Melinda focused on Psalm 90, emphasizing the contrast between the eternal God and transient man, and the brokenness of the world due to sin. The psalm also highlights the mercy of God and the blessing of a relationship with Him. Moses’ prayer for God to change the times of their lives is transformed into a promise through Jesus.

Glory to God in the Highest

As we celebrate Christmas, let’s reflect on the birth of Jesus and the significance of being children of God. The angelic visitation to the shepherds and other encounters with God’s glory illustrate how His glory envelops His children. This Christmas, may we find hope and peace in the glory of God.

A Tested Faith

As we go through the challenges of life, will we, as children of God, be able to persevere in faith, hope, and love?

Salt and Light

We all begin the same way, coming to know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour in a personal manner as individuals. Along the way, we gradually integrate into a local church and get involved in the ministry of the church in some capacity.

The Power of Your Words

Our words matter. Simple words, expressed in love, change lives. Ordinary words, chosen with wisdom and spoken with conviction, can change the world. May we always recognise the extraordinary power we carry.

Cause and Effect

We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God and blessed beyond description. God has brought us from darkness into the marvellous light. Remember when we are sick, God healed us. When we are in need, God provides for us. Remember when we fall into temptation, God delivers us.

Increase Your Capacity

It is likely that God wants to stretch your faith today. It begins with you putting your 5 loaves and 2 fish into the hands of the Lord and trusting Him to come through for you.

Jesus as the True Vine

In these few verses, Jesus said in the upper room teaching his disciples on the night of his betrayal. When he is about to depart from them and so he is preparing them for the time when he is not there with them physically. What he is preparing for in particular in this passage is how to have a relationship with Jesus. What it means to actually have a relationship, a living abiding relationship with Jesus that produces God’s honouring fruit in our life.

The Danger of Drifting

Through the years it is a joy to see familiar faces in church. At the same time, it is very sad to find that there are those who are no longer with us for a number of reasons. But one of the saddest stories to hear is of believers who have just left the church altogether or may not even be worshipping God anymore.

There’s A Miracle Within Your Problem

Today I’d like you to consider what word or picture comes to mind when we hear the word “problem.” We tend to have negative connotations when it comes to problems. We don’t look forward to nor welcome problems. But how about the word “miracle”?

God’s Way is the Best Way

The step of repentance. By taking a closer look at Jonah, let us start trusting God in His final decisions and really trusting Him with our concerns. We want to fully be submitted to His plan and His way. May our zeal can be reignited, and the standard of Christ can once again burn brightly in our lives

Forsaken For Our Sake

Resurrection Sunday has always generated much excitement and rightly so, but it should not be at the expense of Good Friday. Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday come as a package deal. Without Good Friday there would be no Resurrection Sunday. Without Resurrection Sunday, there would be nothing good about Good Friday and the horrific death of Jesus would be a senseless atrocity.

There Must Be More Than This

Revival is a hot topic in Christian circles these days. The latest revival to hit the news is the Asbury Revival which began spontaneously on February 8, 2023, at Asbury University’s regularly scheduled chapel service. It led to a multi-week gathering that drew visitors from all over the US and even the world until the university officially ended on-campus services on February 23 at the National Collegiate Day of Prayer broadcast hosted by the university.

Spiritual Impartation

As we go through life, we meet people confronted with different circumstances of life who will have diverse needs. God constantly empowers us to grow in having a heart for people, to show care and concern and to lend a helping hand to people in need.

Keep Watch

The sermon today continues with spiritual insights that can be drawn from a study of the speech of the apostle Paul to the Ephesian elders on his way to Jerusalem as he finishes his third missionary journey.

A God of Compassion

What would be your answer if you were asked, “How are you feeling?” This is usually a question about a person’s physical health but it is equally valid for us to ask about a person’s emotional state of being.

A God of Intimacy

Having a personal relationship with God. The right relationship with Him. There is value in devotion, however, we need more than devotion, we need to understand who God is and Jesus is the model of intimacy. Jesus is the model, He models devotion, and He models understanding of God.

A Relational Community

Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year and a Sunday. There is therefore a dual significance to this day. Being a Sunday brings to focus the worship of God while the first day of Chinese New Year emphasises the tradition of festivity and celebration accorded to the New Year among the Chinese.

Overcoming Temptation

We often begin the year with good intentions but our good resolutions seldom last. We start off well, but sad to say, we get distracted and derailed and some of us are even destroyed along the way because when faced with temptation…we yield!

Community Evangelism

Community evangelism is an area of evangelism that requires a concerted team effort on the part of the church.

Give Us This Day

One good thing that came out of the uncertain season was that it drove the church onto its needs. We came to the highest authority to plead the case for the salvation of our nation. It is easy to pay lip service with platitudes like “we have to trust God” but it is in prayer that we show our true dependence on God.

Desiring Loving Holiness

When we are exhorted to grow in holiness, often there is a sense that we think holiness is unnatural and beyond us. The reason for this is that we often misunderstand what holiness means and we often do not desire holiness to the same extent that we desire love because of such a misconception.

A Life of Obedience

This Sunday morning even as we have partaken of the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of him it is timely that we bring into focus the following question, “What is the one thing that God desires of us, with which God will be well pleased?

The Foundation of the Word of God

This Sunday morning, as we reflect a bit more deeply into life, we may be able to perceive that beyond all the myriad choices in life and the many decisions that we make daily, all these choices and decisions can fall neatly into two paths.

We Are At War

The war horses of Israel are believed to have been stabled next to the King’s palace. Warriors rode out to and returned from the battle at the Horse Gate. And the king’s chariots will pass through the gates on their way back into the city in triumphant procession.

The Peace of God

Peace is not about the absence of war, peace is more than a word, and peace is more than a feeling. It is possible to be in the calmest of situations, and yet there is no peace inside of us. In contrast, it is also possible to be in a situation of great chaos, yet we can still experience in our hearts and peace in our minds.

A Pure Heart

Then shall we see God! What does it actually mean? In this present world, it will refer to our subjective experience of the presence of God in our lives.

Sacrificial Giving

This weekend is Harvest Mission weekend. Harvest Mission has been a fundamental expression of consecration to God exhibited by TOP for many years.

Through the Valley Dark and Deep

If you are going through a dark, scary valley today, remember that you are not alone. Rest in the promise of our Good Shepherd who will guide us through and around those dangerous spots in the valley so that we make it out safely on the other side. He will carry you when you are too weak to walk, and restore your soul when you are too tired to move forward.

Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Today is Pentecost Sunday according to the Jewish calendar. As we worship the Lord today as an assembly of believers, it is just timely, in these adverse times that we are experiencing now, we look back at the beginnings of the church to draw insights to encourage and exhort us as a church.

Maturity in the Lord

We are called not only be hearers of His word but also doers of His Word. We turn it into a lifestyle. Maturing in the Lord is a life of wisdom, spiritual understanding, godly conduct in the manner worthy of the Lord, and in the knowledge of our inheritance.

A Transforming Alliance

Brothers and sisters, do you desire a closer, more intimate walk with God? You will find him at the Old Gate. There, you will receive a new identity and begin your walk with God. As you surrender to God, you will receive the Holy Spirit, an ally who will accompany and lead you through the rest of the sanctifying journey God has prepared for all of his children.

Prayer

Providential Prayer

This intrinsic connection between righteousness and prayer is based on the holiness of God, that the presence and power of God are manifest in holiness.

Image of God

The Image of God

However, as much as we have the hope of eternal glory, all of us, both young and old, are presently living out our earthly lives that come with their struggles and burdens as well as their blessings and joy.

Good Friday

Like Sheep Gone Astray

On this Good Friday I would like us to look at a familiar passage from First Peter that sums up in two short verses both the horror and the wonder of Christ’s Passion.

Palm Sunday

Jesus’ Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem

More than two thousand years ago, God’s redemptive plan changed the world. The power of sin and death was broken through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Death was defeated. Today is Palm Sunday. Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly on the first Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is the last Sunday of Lent, and it also marked the beginning of the Holy Week.

A Personal Relational Encounter

In that vein, it is especially needful for each and every one of us to desire and prays for a personal encounter with God to revitalize our spiritual zeal. The title of the sermon today is, therefore “A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER”.

Christian Maturity

we move through another week of our lives and we look forward to a fresh new week it is helpful to remind ourselves that, beyond the routine activities of our daily lives, there is always the opportunity for spiritual growth, a gradual process of growing in Christian maturity.

prayer

Pray Like Nehemiah

God uses prayer as the means by which he accomplishes his plan. Prayer transforms our hearts and teaches us to be dependent on Him.

Scripture

The Transformative Power of Scripture

Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Scripture has the transformative power to transform us. In the present trying times, Scripture can give us assurance and peace.

Faith

Choose Faith Instead of Fear

There’s no doubt COVID has caused a great many things. But COVID has also revealed many things – perhaps even more than it has caused. It has revealed that the root cause of this fear, anger, doubt, and insecurity is not “out there” in a virus; it’s “in here” in our hearts.

Victory in Christ

There is the perspective of us being a people of God, a family of God and a spiritual army of God. Today I would like to look into the perspective of the church as the spiritual army of God.

Seek the Lord with all your Heart

To seek God with all your heart is to have an intimate personal relationship with God, to increase your desire for God more than anything else in our lives and lastly to pursue God alone who can fill our emptiness in our heart.

Goodness of God

Taste & See that God is Good

The word “good” is a generic term to describe what is excellent in quality, and/or worthy of approval – from good food to good person, good weather, good circumstances

serving and growing

Serving & Growing Together

We do well to follow the example of our Lord Jesus in his emphasis on the gospel call, understanding at the same time that good works must naturally accompany the gospel call.

I pray that this is the year that we will see more fruit in terms of disciple-making in numerical growth and more spiritual growth among all of us.

Faith Tested

A Tested Deep-Rooted Faith

faith, from one level of faith to another level of faith. The life of the apostle Peter gives us a glimpse in regard to this growth in faith.

Divine Detours

Divine Detours

When shifts in our plans occur, we complain and grumble. But if we are living in obedience, God makes it absolutely clear that his hand is behind all the detours.

Who is Jesus?

Who Do You Say I Am?

ay, His mission stands completed and He commands us to tell the world about Him. This Jesus, who is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Can These Bones Live?

nviting you and me, his church to RISE as a mighty army to proclaim His resurrecting word and the life-giving breath over the dead bones!

Here Am I, Send Me!

To whom he calls he will equip. For all of us, there is always a place to serve, a gift to be exercised, whether in the church or in the community, to bring the love of God into the lives of people, edify those in the church with the Word of God and bring the gospel into the community to bring liberation and salvation, to indeed be a “Relational Discipling Church”. Amen!

What’s in Your Hand?

nd so he asks: “What if they don’t believe me?” (4:1). God then replies with a question: “What is that in your hand?”

In this short little exchange between God and Moses, we will find some principles on how God can turn the ordinary things and ordinary people into the extraordinary.

Faith, Hope and Love

Faith, Hope and Love

n this special day, it is appropriate that we turn our eyes towards our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we look back to our past 43 years and thank God for his goodness and faithfulness, at the same time we are called to look forward to the future.

Worship

A Life of Worship

Believers, first and foremost, are worshippers. A life of worship is a life of faith, a life of holiness and a life of power.

Termites That Destroy

Termites can destroy a house or even a tree one little bite at a time. It may go undetected for years and yet do irreparable damage. Even if the termites are exterminated, it is always a great loss and great cost.

Faithful Till the End

aid to Cain, where sin is crouching outside your door, ready to devour you. For others, it’s a loved one whose health is deteriorating and there’s nothing you can do. For still others, it’s a family situation that seems to be getting worse instead of better.

The Church: A Spiritual House

the mission of the church as expressed in Exaltation, Edification, and Evangelism, and appreciating the full significance of the church being a spiritual house, believers leading spiritual lives, offering spiritual sacrifices, and enjoying spiritual blessings, the first step to take in maintaining and growing in such spiritual fervor and enthusiasm is the act of CONSECRATION.

Free to Serve

We love our freedom. The desire to be free is one of the strongest desires in human nature. From Abraham Lincoln to Nelson Mandela, some have sought for freedom and some have fought hard for it. Others have made long speeches about freedom and sung inspiring songs about it.

God is our Heavenly Father

God, Our Heavenly Father

As we go through trying times such as this, it is needful to get our bearings right and not to lose our focus on God and lose our spiritual fervor.

Trusting God

Trust – The Glue of Life

We make our decision whether to trust or not to trust someone based on 4 components – their character, competence, care, and credibility.

The Joy of the Lord is My Strength

Joy is the evidence of God’s presence in our lives. We don’t need to wait for our situation to be better or our circumstances change. We don’t have to wait for the fig tree to bud, for the grapes to grow, for our problem to be solved, for the Covid-19 situation to be improved.

Reflecting the Glory of God

In the midst of the difficult circumstances of present times, it is needful for all of us as a people of God to keep in mind the priority of our Christian lives and the purpose for which God called us into his kingdom.

A Christ-Centred Life

As a believer in Jesus Christ, how are we to respond to the present happenings and adverse circumstances of life? What is the answer to the problems that we are facing? How do we find assurance in the midst of such uncertain times?

From Barrenness to Fruitfulness

Barrenness is a major theme in the Bible and most often used in reference to a woman who is unable to produce children. But the Bible also refers to the wilderness, being in a desolate place, desert, famine where the land is not producing food, and exile as barrenness.

His Grace is Sufficient

eration and despair it is natural for people to look for meaning and find solace in religion and spirituality. In the midst of so many different and often contradictory beliefs, what makes Christianity different from all the other religions of the world?

The Armour of God

However, at the same time, we need to widen our horizon and to see beyond the physical realm to be aware that in all things that happen in the physical realm, there is a concurrent active spiritual dimension and it is important that at times like this, we purposefully put on THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD.

The Battle is the Lord’s

Giants are not something that we dream up. The giant that we may face today may be Covid-19 pandemic impacts in our life, it may be unemployment, careers, finances, health problems, depression, pressures, pains, relationship issues, family problems, struggles, fears, and sins. Any issues right now in our life. It is our giant.

There Must Be More Than This

Today is Pentecost, the day on which God fulfilled His promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit and the church was born. Today, we celebrate that God has not abandoned us, but continues to be with us by His Holy Spirit

Hannah, a Godly Mother

Today is Mother’s Day and we want to affirm, appreciate, honour and esteem all the moms and mother figures who have been such a blessing in our lives

Reaching One, Reaching Many

If this is a movie we find two main actors – Peter and the lame man – with John, the supporting actor. The scene set before us is the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate. The director is the Holy Spirit.

A Life of Sacrifice

We have just remembered our Lord in his death and resurrection! Such an occasion must necessarily always lead us to ponder and reflect on what it means to be a child of God and a disciple of Christ.

Hearing and Doing the Will of God

It is my intention today to draw you back to the primary essence of the Christian faith as it is to be lived out in this world. This primary essence is based on the fundamental attribute of God, that God is holy and we as a people of God, whether individually or as a church, must necessarily reflect the pure moral character of God in ethical conduct and behavior.

A God of Suddenlies

This morning let us look at how the disciples prepared themselves for the visitation of God and compare that with our desire and readiness to have God work in our lives and in our church.

Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Today is Palm Sunday on the Christian calendar, the day we commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It begins the events leading up to the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Trial of the King

God has one boundless purpose that embraces all the things that He permits and ordains. Without denying free choice, we believe that God foresees the curious twisting of human will, and that He overrules all for His own purpose.

The Imitation of Christ

As we look to God this Sunday morning I believe that, for many of us, there are needs and burdens that trouble our hearts. Even as we bring these needs and burdens in prayer to God, it is more important that we seek to draw closer to God in relational intimacy.

Humility and Contentment

As we look to God this Sunday morning I believe that many of you are seeking to find a certain sense of direction personally for this year 2021. Time has passed pretty fast and it seemed not long ago that we were living in the year 2020.

The Blessing of a Fu-filled Life

Have you wondered what it means when we say, “I’m blessed”? It is usually in relation to good fortune, a desired outcome, positive circumstances, comfort, and the absence of problems. The common understanding of what it means to be blessed by God is that He gives us good things.

The Centrality of God in Christ

Today is the third day of Chinese New Year. For most of us who are Chinese Christians, we have had our reunion dinners and celebrated the New Year in a very different manner from past New Year celebrations.

Chinese or Christian?

Have you ever been asked: Now that you are a Christian do you celebrate CNY? Being a Christian doesn’t mean I cease to be a Chinese..

Seeking Jesus

When Jesus was born 2000 years ago, God wanted people to find Him! In Luke chapter 2, the Bible tells us the story about some shepherds… they were watching their sheep at night, and God sent an angel to tell them that Jesus has been born… and they would find Him wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

The Peace of Christ

This past week has been a difficult week for many of us because of the strain and stress of this ongoing pandemic. Day after day, we hear news of rising numbers of cases, of reminders to stay home and stay safe, of the tightening of restrictions and so on and so forth.

Bridging the Generation Gap

There are so many things that contribute to the generation gap. We used to live in multi-generational homes but nuclear families are now the norm. The pandemic has further compounded the problem as slowly but surely we are getting used to living in a socially distanced society. But sometimes it is more than distance that separate people and families.

Finding Strength in God

Some people believe that human beings should never question the ways of God. They may even feel that it borders on sin to ask God, “Why?”

God’s Will Be Done

In Moses’ encounter with God, God proclaimed his goodness through expressing his love and his holiness. Today, we turn to the Person of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. The title of the sermon today is “God’s Will Be Done.”

The Goodness of God

WE are thankful to God that we can once again gather together as a people of God to worship him. As we reach the end of this unprecedented year, we need to continue to seek the Lord, reflect upon his person and grow in our knowledge of him.

Devotion to God

During difficult times such as this period of an ongoing pandemic, it is needful for us seek God afresh and reflect upon our relationship with God in Christ.

The Power of Thankfulness

2020 has been a roller coaster year. Our world has been turned upside-down and inside out. As we move towards the Christmas season some of you might be feeling that there is nothing much to look forward to or be grateful for. As pastor it is my responsibility especially in these dark times to remind you of THE POWER OF THANKFULNESS.

Walking with God

In the mean time I would like to encourage all of you that in a time of crisis and uncertainty such as this, God is beckoning us to draw near to him, to seek not only comfort and deliverance from him but to also grow in our relational intimacy with him.

How To Live Anxiety-Free

We live in an age of anxiety. Anxieties are normal in a fallen world. How many of us can honestly say we live care-free lives? Some of us have more or greater anxieties than others, but we all have them and more than ever before.

Depend On God

As we gather together to worship God, we all know that the health crisis that we are facing is still unresolved. This past week has seen a greater spread of the sickness caused by Covid-19 and there is a sense of uncertainty concerning what lies ahead for all of us.

Finishing Well

What is your goal in life? The goal is very important because the phrase “finishing well” means different things to different people.

While It Is Day

Our text today is taken from John 9:4 where Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” It is such a simple statement and yet it sets out the motivations for all that Jesus said and did.

Renewing You Mind

The sermon today is titled renewing your mind. I have chosen to attend to an understanding of the importance of the mind because when we go through difficult times the spiritual battlefield is our minds.

Keep On Digging!

Do you know what was remarkable about his story in the Bible? Well, he dug wells, he opened wells that had been sealed by the Philistines, and he dug wells and gave names to the wells. He seems obsessed with wells and kept on digging! And so the title of my message today is: “Keep On Digging!”

A Relational Faith

Today’s sermon addresses a very common question that is asked by Christians. “Why does God not answer my prayer?” When the question is phrased this way, then the word prayer most often means petitionary prayer, that is a prayer where we ask God for a specific request. It is a question that can only be properly understood if we understand how God responds to prayer.

God Is Love

Today message is my maiden message for Sunday Celebration Service. As I seek and sought after the Lord for a Word of season to share, especially during this time, Love have touched my heart.

A Rainbow in Every Storm

A rainbow’s ability to bring joy to just about anyone is probably why they’re painted on kids’ cheeks at parties; used to decorate birthday cakes, garden flags and bedding; mentioned in lyrics, poems and other writings. They are also the stuff of folklore across many countries and cultures.

More Than Conquerors

To bring some light to the situation we are in, I wish to draw some relevant insights from the book of Romans. There are three insights based on the 3 “Es” of Eternity, Edification and Empowerment.

Church Without Walls

Many churches suddenly realised they need to bring the word of God to their congregation during lockdown and many churches scrambled to see how they can stream or broadcast the sermons.

Unity in Love & Holiness

The sermon today seeks to bring into focus the three important emphases of Tabernacle of Praise in relation to God. These three emphases are holiness, love and unity. As we reflect upon the attributes ofGod, we can discern that the two descriptions “God is holy” and “God is love” captures much of who God is.

A Friend Who Intercedes is a Friend Indeed

We are living in difficult times. What would you do if you have a friend who has been retrenched and is desperately looking for a job? And you happen to have another friend who is the boss of a company who is able to take on an employee that has your friend’s job skill?

Am I Really Jesus’s Friend?

And much as it is a blessing to have close and good friends the best friendship we can nurture is with God. That is why songs such “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “I Am A Friend of God” are so effective in bringing us comfort in our time of need and lifting up our spirits when we need a boost in confidence.

In Remembrance of God

I am so glad to see all of you this morning in the house of the Lord. As we gather this morning to worship the Lord, it is noteworthy for us to remember what he has done for us all this while as a church and as an individual being a part of the church.

#BFF Best Friends Forever

We are the product of our relationships and the influence they have on our lives – our parents and grandparents, our spouses, the teachers who influenced us at key times, our children, our colleagues and our friends

The Love of a Father

Today is Father’s Day, a special day when we want to remember our fathers and celebrate fatherhood as a gift of God. Even as we remember our earthly fathers we need to acknowledge that the idea of fatherhood is drawn at its source from our perception of God as our heavenly Father.

Maturity in Unity

There is this challenge that as time goes on, we may think of our Christian faith as between us, ourselves and God. It becomes a bit too personal without realizing that God looks at us as a community of His people.

Faith Arising from Hope

Faith and hope are related concepts in the Bible. While faith without hope is possible, hope without faith is not.

The Holy Communion

Today marks nearly two and a half months since the MCO, and in this two and a half months much has happened and moving on, next week we will be entering into the month of June and in the first Sunday of the month of June, we will indeed be administering the Holy Communion online, for the first time in the history of Tabernacle of Praise.

Finding Hope

Today’s message is entitled “Finding Hope” and we’re going to learn some lessons on how to find hope in God in difficult times.

A Community of Faith

As we look into the Apostle Paul using the metaphor of the body of Christ, us being dependent on one another and each of us doing our part, to grow the body unto the head our Lord and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

A Mother’s Legacy

Today is Mother’s Day and we want to honour all the mothers and wish them a “Happy Mother’s Day.”  I hope you have enjoyed the music video that we have prepared for you. We want to thank them for the love and sacrifice they have given over the years to their children.

A Faith of Devotion

This health crisis is evolving into a crisis of finances. For employers, it is a time when their struggle and their challenge is whether they can still keep their businesses afloat. For employees, it is a time of uncertainty. And a time when they wonder, whether they can still hold their jobs.

Day 2: Where is God?

Governments have had to grapple with health and economic crisis. Medical front-liners have been pushed to their limits trying to cope and businesses have come to a near standstill. People are dying.

The Strengthening Grace of God

Today the title of this sermon is ‘The Strengthening Grace of God’ and I would like to draw this insight of the strengthening grace of God from the epistle to the Corinthians, the second epistle to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 12: 9, 10.

The Resurrection

The very fact that Jesus resurrected from that Easter Sunday brings to us that understanding that the Cross and the empty tomb forms a complete, integral part of the Gospel.

Refuge Under the Wings of God

Today, the Sunday before Easter, is known as Palm Sunday because in John 12:13 we read that the people broke palm branches from the trees and lined the streets in front of Jesus Christ, welcoming Him as He made His triumphant entry into the city of Jerusalem.

The Peace of Christ

We are indeed going through difficult and uncertain times. Unprecedented times. And a lot of us may be wondering what the future holds. What the future few weeks will be like. What will happen and actually what will be the settlement for this virus crisis and the economic crisis that is coming on.

Faith for the Journey

Today is the 5th day of the implementation of the Movement Control Order as our nation work through the challenges posed by COVID-19. As we go through these stormy uncharted waters, we may wonder where God is in the midst of it. The truth is that God isn’t far away, and it is in times like this that he is inviting us into a closer and deeper relationship with him. Let’s not allow social distancing to turn into spiritual distancing.

Faith in Christ

The sermon today will address the issues of faith and fear. As the country goes through a health crisis in the form of Covid-19, and the beginning of an economic crisis, we need to ask ourselves how we are to address the situation we are in.

God of the Ordinary

Ruth is a story for those who in the midst of tragedy, loss, pain or disappointment may doubt whether God is in control, whether God is good, and whether faithfulness to do what is right is worth it in hard times.

In God We Trust

I believe everywhere you go these few days, everyone of us will be confronted with dialogues and conversations about the current political tension. We have all had a challenging week with the political uncertainty that is enveloping the country. Times have been hard but in this past week, we sense that times have become even harder, in a time of the economic downturn. Uncertainties have suddenly become the order of the day, as we do not know what to expect.

A Picture Of Love

The word “Love” occurs 31 times in these 5 chapters. In the last words of Jesus, a large part of it is on love. That’s why Jesus said by this all men will know you are my disciples if you love one another. Today I want to give you the picture of love. That is the title of my message.

Beauty For Ashes

The Truth that shines through every bit of our grief, and pain, and sin, is this, Christ came to save us and set us free. Christ came to redeem. Christ came to bring hope. Christ came to bring beauty from ashes.

Spiritual Growth

The primary means of spiritual growth is a prayerful study of the Word of God. For it is said that the stability of a Christian comes from his faith in the Word of God, his knowledge of that Word and his ability to use that Word in the practical decisions of life.

Charity Begins at Home

Chinese New Year is that time of the year when we see some of our family members like cousins for the only time of the year. Family ties are important. We choose our friends, but family is given to us by God. It is not by choice. And New Year is a time not just to give and get Ang Pows but a time to catch up, talk, play and eat together.

The Way, the Truth and the Life

So this Chinese New Year season, however you see it, a large part would be about relationships. About bonding and restoration, about catching up with one another. That is why I believe that my message today speaks to all communities, because its is a message about relationships.

20/20 Vision for 2020

We live in a wonderful world full of colours, sights and sound. The human senses are our contact to the environment and we would never want to give up or lose any one of our senses.

A Relational Discipling Church

As we begin a new year, what does God have in store for our church, Tabernacle of Praise ? This may be a question that may be on your minds as you sit on your chairs during this Sunday service.

Relational Evangelism

Evangelism must begin from the church. The church must first and foremost have that loving relationship and to care for one another. Only then can the church love beyond its wall and share the gospel effectively.

Relationship

The short title of my message today is: Relationship, and I want to begin with this little reference to John Calvin, a 17th century Protestant reformer. He once talked about the importance of putting on the spectacles of faith when reading the Word of God.

Have You Tried?

Have you ever stopped what you’re doing to think of THAT?
To think of how much time / energy / effort you have channeled into sharing Christ, or sharing about your faith?

Greatness Through God’s Eyes

Everyone aspires to greatness. All of us want to have purpose and significance in this life. We want to be respected, and we want to leave a legacy. No one aspires to mediocrity.
